Today, via the Los Angeles Times (free registration required), comes news that the islands are rebuilding. More compelling -- rates are ridiculously low as tourists slowly start to revisit. If you can go, you should. And I will be utterly jealous.

On a totally inside note: Carlito's Bar has survived. The owner had plastered the island with tacky signs; unbeknownst to him, he became the object of our wrath during down moments, usually while drinking a tasty Chang beer. Even if he is a douche, it's somehow comforting the place has survived.
