>> It was equal parts Vegas (a new city built out of the ground), Utah (drinks for the gringo tourists only, no gaming, blacked-out naughty bits in Western magazines) and Hong Kong in a few years (incredible growth, activity, commerce). The oil's going to run out in a few years, so the country has decided to diversify. Elaborate hotels and resorts are going up everywhere. Two commerce cities -- one dedicated to media, one to technology -- have been built to persuade international organizations to set their Mideast headquarters in Dubai. This round of photos were posted using Flickr, which I like quite a bit. The ability to post smartass comments directly on the photos is cool as hell.
