>> Mark Romanek's video for Johnny Cash's cover of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt" is a bit contrived, but nonetheless affecting. You can read the story of the man's life in his face, but Romanek dug up home movies, concert footage and assorted films of The Man in Black to bookmark shots of Cash singing what could be his own eulogy. This may be the first time I've appreciated Trent Reznor's songwriting, but Johnny Cash can make any kid's shoe-gazing ditty sound like a holy man's lament to the waning moon.
