The NY Times (registration required) has a story about Silicon Valley entrepreneurs leaving the joint to pursue more fulfilling opportunities elsewhere -- after making gobs (or just handfuls) of money, it should be noted. What made the story for me was a quote by John Walker, one of the founders of Autodesk: "Until you have a crane, you never knew that you needed one."
